The Evangelical Research Fellowship (ERF)
The Evangelical Research Fellowship (ERF) at GWC is a vibrant community of evangelical scholars exploring theology and related disciplines. Within this gospel-shaped academic environment, postgraduate students and faculty support one another in pursuing scholarship that deepens a contextual understanding of the Gospel and strengthens evangelical ministry across Africa.
This happens through:
- Weekly meetings, in person and online, to share research and enjoy academic fellowship with peers and GWC faculty
- Research seminars and public lectures from leading local and internal scholars
- Writing and research assistance and support
- A caring, loving community where the challenges of academic scholarship can be jointly navigated
The ERF also welcomes external academics, including short-term visitors, international scholars, and students enrolled in PhD programmes at South African universities, creating a broader community of theological scholarship and exchange.

Research and Postdoctoral Fellowships
GWC welcomes visiting scholars for research fellowships, including postdoctoral fellowships for scholars who have completed their doctorate within the last three years and who are interested in pursuing further research and gaining academic experience.
Our fellows gain admission to the College’s ERF and enjoy all its associated privileges, including library borrowing rights, access to our extensive electronic catalogue and a study space on campus.
To apply for a fellowship, please send your CV to erf@gwc.ac.za and include a one-page summary of the research you plan to undertake.
While we do offer limited funding (which is entirely dependent on support from our generous donors), preference is given to scholars who are fully or partially self-funded.
